Story Submission Terms

Submitting through a JJFUMA Share Your Story page gives JJFUMA permission to review, edit, adapt and publish what you share. JJFUMA decides whether, when and how a submission is published. Submission does not guarantee publication, and JJFUMA will not request additional publication permission or a second publication approval before publishing a submitted story.
1. What counts as a submission
These terms apply when you submit a story through True Stories or JJFUMA After Dark, whether you write it directly on JJFUMA or upload an audio recording through the audio-submission option. Text submissions may be made without a JJFUMA account. Audio uploads require a signed-in, verified JJFUMA reader account. The paid Talk With JJFUMA booking service is separate and is not a story submission unless you separately use a Share Your Story process.
2. Permission you give JJFUMA
By submitting, you give JJFUMA a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free permission to review, edit, adapt, reproduce, publish, display, distribute, excerpt and promote the submitted story through JJFUMA-owned or JJFUMA-operated websites and channels. This permission allows JJFUMA to change length, structure, grammar, presentation and other editorial elements while respecting the identity choice selected on the submission form.
3. No second publication approval
Your submission is the publication permission. JJFUMA may decide not to publish a submission, but if JJFUMA chooses to publish it, JJFUMA is not required to return to you for another approval of the story, headline, edit, publication date or presentation before publication.
4. Audio uploads
If you choose the audio-upload option, you must briefly describe what the recording is about and then upload an audio file. The information and story in the recording are part of your publication submission and may be edited, adapted and published as written JJFUMA content. During submission you must choose whether JJFUMA may publish the actual audio recording. If you choose No, JJFUMA will not publish the audio recording, but JJFUMA may still use, edit and publish the story or information in the recording as written JJFUMA content. JJFUMA may permanently delete the stored audio file after it is no longer needed while retaining the associated submission and consent record.
5. Video submissions
JJFUMA does not currently accept video submissions through Share Your Story. If a video-submission option is introduced in the future, these terms and the submission form will be updated before that option is made available.
6. Identity and privacy choices
Where the submission form offers public identity choices, JJFUMA will use the option you select, such as your selected name, first name, pseudonym or anonymous attribution. Your private email address, phone number and private contact information will not be publicly displayed.
7. Your responsibility for what you share
You confirm that the experience is yours to share or that you otherwise have authority to share it. Do not submit material you do not have the right to provide. You are responsible for avoiding unnecessary private information about other people and for considering whether details could identify someone even when names are changed.
8. Editing and adaptation
The handling choice on the form tells JJFUMA whether you prefer a fuller editorial rewrite or wording kept as close as reasonably possible to what you shared. It does not create a right to approve the final edit before publication.
9. Publication and Compensation
JJFUMA alone decides whether, when and how a submitted story is published. Submitting a story does not guarantee publication.
Story submissions are unpaid. JJFUMA does not provide payment, compensation, royalties or revenue sharing for stories submitted through Share Your Story. By submitting your story, you understand and agree that you are sharing it without expectation of payment or financial compensation.
10. Sensitive and mature submissions
After Dark submissions may involve highly personal or mature subjects. Only share information you are comfortable providing under these Submission Terms. After Dark eligibility and acknowledgement requirements shown on the submission page also apply.
11. Changes and questions
JJFUMA may update these Submission Terms as the service evolves. The terms shown when you submit govern that submission, subject to applicable law. Questions can be sent through the Contact page.
